Students in the Chemistry class recently began their investigation of chemical reactions by conducting a lab to observe evidence of chemical change. Students made elephant's toothpaste, rusted steel wool, and a precipitate from copper sulfate and ammonia. Students simultaneously ran an experiment to investigate which variables, such as heat, salt, water, vinegar, etc. most affected the rate of rusting. Hydrogen peroxide seemed to be the most successful due to the production of oxygen bubbles. Next, students will build off this knowledge to make physical models of these reactions on a molecular level and study their chemical equations. |

Last Wednesday, Anacapa students rolled up their sleeves and made a difference at Sweet Wheel Farms in Summerland! Our amazing volunteers helped dig holes for fencing to protect this beautiful farm from local deer. Sweet Wheel Farms is a nonprofit dedicated to nourishing our community with fresh, sustainable produce and meaningful educational opportunities. We’re so proud of our students for supporting a mission that’s all about giving back to the community. |

Reflecting on Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Inspiring Change in School
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is more than a day off from school—it’s an opportunity to reflect on Dr. King’s legacy and the values he stood for: equality, justice, and the power of nonviolent action. For students, his message holds an important lesson: even small actions can lead to significant change.
Dr. King believed in the potential of young people to challenge injustices and create a better future. As students, you can honor his legacy by fostering inclusivity in your school community. This can be as simple as inviting someone new to join your lunch table, standing up against bullying, or encouraging classmates to respect one another’s differences.
Another way to embody Dr. King’s vision is by promoting kindness and collaboration. When you work together—whether on a group project, in a club, or on a sports team—you learn the value of unity and shared purpose. Dr. King’s dream reminds us that progress happens when people come together to support and uplift one another. Finally, don’t underestimate the power of your voice. Dr. King started as a young man with big dreams, just like you. Advocate for causes you believe in, ask questions, and seek to understand the world around you.
By embracing these actions, you’re not only honoring Dr. King’s legacy but also contributing to a future where his dream of equality and harmony can become a reality. His message lives on through the choices we make every day. |

Support Our Annual Fund
With your incredible support, we’ve now raised an amazing $37,225 toward our $75,000 goal! We are so grateful for your generosity, but we’re not there yet.
We still need to raise only $30 in smaller donations to unlock the $5,000 that was pledged by an Anacapa family last month. This means that every dollar donated will be doubled, up to $5,000! Your contribution, no matter the size, can have twice the impact.
REMEMBER: Every gift, no matter the size—whether it’s $5, $50, or $500—makes a difference. We’re aiming for 100% participation in the Annual Fund, and currently, about 60% of our families have contributed. Consider making your contribution today through our website’s donation page or by sending a check to the school.
In addition to individual contributions, we are actively seeking business sponsorships to help us reach our goal. If you or someone you know may be interested in becoming a sponsor, please refer to the sponsorship information below for more details.
Thank you once again for your ongoing support and generosity. Together, we can achieve this goal! |
